Biography

We are proud to introduce our amazing up-and-coming new stud dog Winter, a stunning young male out of 3/4 Russian bloodlines. His sire, Kubos, is a gorgeous 100% Russian male carrying in his genes the prettiest, most luscious fluffy white coat, a strong masculine head, and powerful driving movement, and his dam Jovi, a beautiful half-Russian bitch going back to our boy Master, has an expression to die for with deep-set almond-shaped obliquely set eyes, jet-black pigment, and that perfect Sammy smile. Meet Winter, who has all the assets of his parents and more!

His crowning merit is his movement. He moves with incredible drive, showing a smooth ground-covering balanced sidegait complemented by an unfailingly clean V-shaped front & rear, single-tracking effortlessly at fast speeds as a Samoyed should. This is all enabled by his rock-solid structure; well-laid back shoulder blades with equally good return of upper arm, matched by a strong well-muscled rear with excellent bend of stifle and well-let down, well-defined hocks, putting his feet just behind his ischial tuberosity, to produce movement that is efficient, tireless, unexaggerated, and balanced, a joy to watch!

Shown sparingly and within a very limited geographical region, he still managed to finish his championship quickly in just 7 shows. His first weekend in the ring he won a 3-point BOW major (which would've been 4 points if not for absentees), with zero show training beforehand, having come from a pet owner family with no prior experience showing dogs. Over his next several shows he nabbed several more major wins including a 5-point Best of Breed win over specials, and finished in style with a 5-point Best of Winners win at the Antietam Creek Samoyed Club supported entry, at less than 16 months of age. The next day, his first time out as a special, he secured a 5-point Select Dog win, again over a specialty supported entry. On specialty day, he topped off this amazing weekend by winning Best in Sweepstakes over many nice youngsters.

Two weeks later, he competed at the Potomac Valley Samoyed Club specialty, where he won Best of Opposite Sex in Specialty Show both days for 5 points each. Finally, after taking a 3-month break from shows to be with his family, he came back out to finish his Grand Championship, and he did it with more flair than we could have ever imagined possible: by taking Best of Breed over some of the top-winning Samoyed specials in the country and getting a Working Group 2nd over 130 other dogs, at only 19 months old.

After all the excitement of finishing his Grand Championship so fast, his owners decided he'd done enough showing for now and was ready to resume life as a family pet---that is, until the National Specialty just 4 months later! He returned to the Best of Breed ring at the 2024 National, rusty from 4 months of being a lazy house pet, yet still managed to pull off a wonderful stylish performance showing off for the judge and made the first cut over many beautiful mature specials, at a still quite raw 23 months of age.

Now, having just turned 2 years old and accomplished all that we wanted him to do, in unforgettably glamorous ways that we could never have expected even in our wildest dreams, earning his CH and GCH titles at remarkable speed, he will be spending his time at home being a beloved pet for his owners and slowly maturing to his full splendor. He may be brought out very occasionally for local specialty shows, but showing is no longer our priority for him; instead, we want him to rest and prepare for his next journey in life, more important than even the flashiest of show wins: producing gorgeous offspring that carry all the traits that make him so special.
